Next steps

What a client should expect to happen once they have made initial contact.

The hardest part is picking up the phone
Once you’ve done that, your call will be answered by someone who understands and will help by answering any questions you may have or by organising an appointment for you. If you want they can organise to ring you back at a suitable time, either as Relate Mid-Yorkshire, or if you wish, we can arrange to use a different name; it’s entirely up to you.
Initially we offer a one-off session which lasts about an hour. This gives you the chance to talk through your concerns with a counsellor, who will then help you consider the way forward. If you are available at any time then this appointment can take place within a couple of days. Unfortunately appointments for specific days and/or times may mean a slight wait.Counselling is available during the day and in the evening.
Please let us know if you have any particular access requirements or if you have hearing difficulties so we can organise a portable loop system. If you have any other requirements, let us know, and we will do our best to meet your needs.

Voluntary Contributions towards counselling
It currently costs Relate Mid-Yorkshire £50.00 for every hour of counselling we provide. As our public funding is extremely limited, we have to ask all our clients to consider making a voluntary contribution towards these costs. These contributions also help us to deliver counselling to those who cannot afford to make any contribution, including children and young people. The service you receive is not, in any way, affected by the level of your contribution. Our Children and Young People’s services are available FREE.You can contribute, by debit or credit card, cheque or in cash.

Tax payers can benefit us even more by signing a Gift Aid form. This will enable us to confidently claim back the tax paid on your contribution: Please ask for a form at your first appointment.
